I have been woefully neglectful of devArt recently. XP Finals + returning to the Boonies= no will to continue.

Buuuuuuut I saw one of my old highschool friends (who know works for my mum in the Forest Service so small world) and he asked me when I was going to start posting my school work. Soon. Very very soon. But not on a dail up connection because high speed has ruined me for life.

Plus I left all my rilly rilly beeg drawings in Savannah.

Also time changes suck a lot.

Soooo....

Things have been kinda shitty the last few weeks, but I think now I'm more or less dealing with it and moving on. One of my roommates was in an accident last month which sucked more than I can eve begin to describe. She fell from the fifth floor of our dorm room when a railing she was leaning up against broke... Thankfully though, she's doing better (still in the neurology ward in ICU, so we haven't been able to see her since the accident). She's broken bones in her legs, one arm and her jaw, but considering how far she fell, we're thankful she survived without damaging her spine or head.

The whole incident and the random shit that followed had a weird effect on everyone, but I think everyone's sort of dealing with it and getting better.

It's been overcast in Savannah the entire week. Darn...spring in Savannah is shaping up to be suspiciously like spring in Oregon, only with sheets of rain instead of random snow flurries. It's gorgeous when the sun's out though.

Just pulled an all nighter for no reason in particular. Meh, didn't feel like sleeping. Caught up on all my webcomic reading, checked out ED again for the hell of it. I'm fairly convinced the target audience is insomniacs because it's the most fascinating shit on the face of the Earth at five in the morning. Freud would have a field day. This may just be me, but if you read it long enough, you can actually start to pick up hints of respect when they come up against a worthy opponent and are able to appreciate bizarre sort of dedication they have to collecting lulz.

Or I've got the whole "sympathy for the devil" thing going. Whichever. I have flashbacks to my babysitting days when I read some of the screencaps. I have to stem the urge to clap my hands and go "Okay kids! Let's play nice now!" (and yes I can count the time that's worked in real life AND online on one hand).

...A nap after class may be necessary after all or I'm going to be stuck with the images of a classroom full of little trolls running loose for the rest of the day.

Looking through my gallery, at some of the older stuff and some of the newer stuff and stuff I haven't posted got me thinking. I don't think I've progressed as much as I should have over the years. I think that there's been improvement. My anatomy's a little bit better than what it used to be and I'm starting to develop a style that's recognizably my own, but I'm really not that satisfied with where I am right now.

So even though new years is waaaaaay the fuck over and the soul crushing return of summer jobs is quick approaching, I figured I'd set some artistic goals for myself. I told someone (Trevor of the obscenely long screen name) that I would start posting what I've done in class... I've been thinking about making a portfolio website too. I can't think of devArt as something that would serve that purpose. It's more like how a sketch book is like an artist's creative playground...something like that.

I think I'm starting to think about these things more because I'm going back to Oregon at the end of May and as much as I miss the FUCK out of my friends and family back home, I really love Savannah (particularly the high speed internet.....ESPECIALLY the high speed internet). That and after being free since January, I really really REALLY don't want to go back to the grocery business.

The things we do for cash. Speaking of, I need to go buy paint.

Color Theory is actually another phrase for the most paint you'll ever use in your entire friggin' life. -_-


EDIT- After some mindless ED surfing I've come to discover that there is no article on Charles Schultz. There IS one of Hunter S. Thompson, but not nearly as trollish as they've been known to be.

Go figure.

The fact that I'm up at 6.24 for the second consecutive day is. Just. Plain. WRONG. Hopefully I'll be able to sleep after my last class though...

Yeah, so college life.....

It's a little hard to take a happy go lucky outlook when you're just a wee bit tired. But I have coffee, so all is good. Seriously though I am having an awesome time. I've met a lot of cool people and I'm more or less used to taking care of myself at this point. Georgia is really pretty, even in the dead of winter and Savannah is an interesting bit of city. Except for the paper mill. The paper mill really friggin' stinks.

Hopefully my brain reboots in time for my 8 am class. NEVER AGAIN! NEVER AGAIN! If I can get away with it all my classes will start at friggin' NOON LIKE EVERYONE ELSES!!
